Pipe relining

Relining across the
Northern Beaches

A cracked or root-damaged line repaired from the inside, which matters more out here because a repair that holds saves a return visit across a long region.

Fixing it once matters more out here

The defect is usually small: an open joint, a crack, roots that found a gap of millimetres.

What makes excavation disproportionate on many of these properties is the run. Bushland-edge and larger blocks tend to have long, indirect drainage to the boundary, so a trench opens a great deal of ground to reach very little.

There is a second reason that is specific to a region this long. A repair that only holds for a season means another visit, and another visit across thirty kilometres of arterial road costs everybody more than it would in a compact suburb.

So the value of getting it right the first time is higher here, which is exactly what a structural repair inside the pipe is for.

Local relining guide

When relining is the right call out here

Long runs make trenches disproportionate

Bushland-edge and larger blocks tend to have indirect drainage to the boundary.

Excavating that opens a great deal of ground to reach a defect of a few centimetres.

A return visit costs more across this region

Thirty kilometres of arterial road makes a second attempt expensive for everybody.

So the premium on getting it right first time is genuinely higher here.

Roots enter at the joint

Not through sound pipe. A liner seals the run end to end and removes the opening.

It does not remove the vegetation, and we will not claim it does.

What relining cannot do

It restores the pipe. It cannot change the gradient the pipe was laid at.

Where fall has been lost, that is excavation and re-lay, and we say so.

Why we quote both ways

You should be able to compare, so both figures come together for the same defect.

Sometimes digging genuinely is right, particularly where access is easy and the run short.

What pipe relining costs on the beaches

Quoted against footage rather than a description. These are indicative 2026 ranges, and the figure does not change because you are at the northern end.

01

Camera inspection and report $250 – $450

Footage handed over, with the defect marked and located.

02

Junction or short section repair $1,500 – $3,500

A defined defect repaired from inside, through existing access where possible.

03

Full run to the boundary $4,000 – $9,000

Depending on length and access, with established planting left alone.

04

Root cutting before lining $400 – $700

The line cleared so the liner cures against sound pipe.

05

Excavation comparison included

The dig price for the same defect, so the decision is yours.

Camera inspection of a house drain on the northern beaches

Camera down first

We film the run and locate the defect before anybody quotes. No footage, no quote.

Step 02
Quoting a pipe relining job on the northern beaches

Both prices, in writing

The relining figure and the excavation figure for the same defect, so you can weigh them properly.

Step 03
Preparing a drain for relining on the northern beaches

The line prepared

Roots cut back and the run cleaned so the liner cures against sound pipe rather than over debris.

Step 04
Handing over post-relining footage on the northern beaches

Filmed again afterwards

The finished liner recorded end to end, with the footage handed over alongside the warranty.

Same drain blocking every year?

Out here that is a return trip as well as a repeat bill. Footage will show whether a liner finishes it properly.

Why does relining suit properties out here?

Two reasons. Bushland-edge and larger blocks tend to have long, indirect runs to the boundary, so excavation opens a great deal of ground for a small defect. And across a region this long a repeat visit costs everybody more than it would in a compact suburb, so a repair that holds properly is worth more than one that buys a season.

Will relining fix a drain with no fall?

No. A liner restores the pipe, it cannot change the gradient the pipe was laid at. If the footage shows a length holding water because the fall has gone, that needs excavation and re-lay, and we will tell you which you have before quoting either.

Does it help with roots on a bushland block?

Directly. Roots enter at a joint rather than through sound pipe, and a liner seals the run end to end so there is no longer a gap for them to find. It does not remove the vegetation, and we would not pretend otherwise, but it takes away the opening.

How much digging is involved?

Usually a single access point, frequently one that already exists. The repair happens inside the pipe, so the garden and any established planting stay where they are.

Can every line be relined?

Most can. A run that has collapsed, or separated so far there is no host pipe left to line against, needs excavation. The camera decides, which is why we film before quoting.

How long does a liner last?

A structural repair rather than a patch, designed in decades. We will not attach a number to a drain we have not filmed, because it depends on what is left of the host pipe.

What does relining cost on the beaches?

A camera inspection and report is $250 to $450. A junction or short section repair is $1,500 to $3,500. A full run is $4,000 to $9,000 depending on length and access. The excavation comparison comes alongside, and the price does not change with distance.
